The cape, from midthigh to knee length. It’s one piece that will update everything by adding a triangular silhouette in a wearable way.2 An evening tank, dress, or knit with bronze or matte silver sequins.3 A slim or pencil skirt.
Your widest belt yet. Double buckled or even triple buckled. It’s the new extreme belt, and it’s ultraflattering. Go for a dark color and brass hardware.
A large patent bag. Navy is where the chic money is.
Trousers. One tailored slim pair, one slouchy with a high rise. They’re back in the spotlight for the first time in years, so invest in great cuts.
A tunic. Wear it over a turtleneck and with hose–if you have the legs–or trousers.
A knitted, textured jacket.
A turtleneck or three.
A hat. Okay, this is a bit of a leap if you’ve never worn one, but they were on every runway. Even if you’re not ready for a fedora, a knitted, peaked cloche won’t kill you–and it’s the perfect companion for those slicked-up clothes. Look at it as dotting the i after you’ve crossed the tepee.
